According to numbers released Wednesday from the Florida Department of Education, 95 percent of Brevard students in the class of 2011 took the ACT college entrance exam at some point in their high school career.
That’s the highest percentage of test takers in the state.
Viera and West Shore Jr./Sr. high schools had 100 percent of graduating seniors take the exam. In this photo from last school year, Instructor Sterling Strange teaches an ACT Prep course at West Shore.
About 4,600 Brevard seniors took the exam, with an average composite score of 20.6. The district average was 19.8 in English, 20.7 in math, 21.1 in reading and 20.2 in science.
